De Kaapstander (NL)
The Shanty choir "De Kaapstander" was founded in 1998 in the famous historical town Oudewater. The choir counts about 40 enthusiastic male and female singers and musicians from the region of Oudewater and Gouda. De Kaapstander is conducted by Jean Marie Dosogne and sings shanties and seasongs in Dutch, English and French. Many songs are emphasized with own choreography. The musical support consists of accordions, banjo, violin and drum. The choir likes to share the pleasure of singing songs in interaction with the audience.
